Collective worship

At Orchard View Primary Academy, collective worship provides pupils with regular opportunities to come together, reflect and explore values such as kindness, respect, gratitude, hope and responsibility.

Orchard View is not a faith academy. Our approach is inclusive, age-appropriate and respectful of the different faiths, cultures and beliefs represented within our academy community. In accordance with statutory requirements, our programme draws mainly upon the broad traditions and values of Christianity over time, while also recognising other faiths and non-religious perspectives.

Collective worship may take place as a whole academy, in phases or within classes. Pupils may be invited to listen to stories, consider important questions and take part in a moment of quiet reflection. Any invitation to pray is optional, and pupils may instead use the time for their own personal reflection.

Parents have the legal right to withdraw their child from collective worship. Parents who wish to discuss this should contact the Head of Academy.
